Library Orientation Program


Description

The library orientation is a programme that is offered to faculty, first year students and transferees as an introduction to the library’s resources, as well as information on study skills and academic integrity to help and make their school experience successful.

It is designed to educate faculty and students in locating and using appropriate print and non-print or online resources for their research and assignments. The program includes the following:

Demonstration of the libraries electronic services

Hands – on activities

Library tours

To ensure participation of students, coordination is done with teachers of English I classes to facilitate students’ attendance. The librarian conducts the orientation that includes library tours and demonstration.

Objectives

To familiarize students with library facilities, resources and services

To ensure that library users can make use of the library services and its facilities adequately and to their own satisfaction

To enable library users to become skilled at finding information and thus foster feeling of confidence and independence

To acquaint students with the basic databases searching techniques

To introduce faculty and students to issues of academic integrity (Copyright and plagiarism)

About

The University of Bohol was originally named Rafael Palma College after the greatest scholar of his time, the late Dr. Rafael Palma. Its history is an account of how a group of public and civic spirited citizens of the province of Bohol ventured to establish an educational institution in answer to a long felt need of college education to those who could not afford to study outside the province.
